Tradition, Change, and Justice in El Espinal

Presentation about El Espinal – Description of culture, climate, traditions, and festivities.Reflection:

Exploring the traditions of my hometown, El Espinal, made me reflect on how cultural practices evolve with time and how justice and social awareness play a role in those changes. One clear example is the abolishment of bullfights during the San Pedro and San Juan festivities. These events were once central to the celebration, but after a serious accident, they were banned.

This decision shows how society can redefine what is acceptable or not, based on values like safety, ethics, and respect for life. It's a form of collective justice — choosing to protect people and animals over keeping a risky tradition.

Reflecting on this made me realize that crime and punishment are not only about laws but also about cultural shifts. What was normal before can become unacceptable when a community decides to evolve. In that sense, El Espinal shows how even a joyful, colorful town can lead by example in adapting traditions for a better future.

As a citizen and future software developer, I understand that respecting norms, protecting life, and promoting responsible change are part of building a fair and safe society — whether it's in a festive town or the digital world.
