Flexibility, adaptability, and personal growth at work

The work experience I’m thinking of is the one I’m currently living, returning to work as a dental assistant while being a mom, as I have to be flexible and adapt to changes in order to see better results at work, at home, and in my studies.

● What was the result of the experience?
The result of the experience was that, by adapting to my new role as a mother and dental assistant, I developed a greater ability to organize myself, manage my time efficiently, and prioritize my responsibilities. This allowed me to maintain good performance at work while balancing the demands of motherhood. I learned to be more flexible and manage stress, which helped me maintain a productive work environment while also being able to enjoy and be present for my baby. Additionally, I strengthened my communication and empathy skills, which benefited both my colleagues and patients.

● How did your flexibility and adaptability help you to deal with the situation?
My flexibility and adaptability were key in coping with the situation because they allowed me to quickly adjust to the changes that came with being a mother and working at the same time. By being flexible, I was able to reorganize my schedule, prioritize my tasks, and find practical solutions when unexpected situations arose. Additionally, adaptability helped me manage stress and new responsibilities, allowing me to balance both work and family commitments without feeling overwhelmed. These skills enabled me to be more efficient, maintain a positive attitude, and meet my responsibilities at home and work.

● Would you change anything in order to deal in a better way with it?
Yes, I would change the way I organize my time. I would focus on planning my schedule better to dedicate more time to my studies, as sometimes work and responsibilities at home take up most of my day. If I could balance these aspects better, I would be able to make more progress in my studies without feeling as pressured.

Reflection:

This experience has shown me that flexibility and adaptability are not just professional skills, but life skills. Returning to work as a dental assistant while becoming a mother was a huge challenge — one that required not only organization and time management but also emotional strength and clarity of priorities.

Through this process, I discovered how resilient I could be. I learned to manage stress in healthier ways, communicate better with coworkers and patients, and become more empathetic both at work and at home. This situation helped me grow personally and professionally, teaching me that change can be a powerful opportunity for improvement.

Although I succeeded in adapting, I also recognized an area for improvement: time management. Balancing work, motherhood, and studies isn’t easy, and with better scheduling, I know I could support my educational goals more effectively without neglecting my other responsibilities.

This experience reminded me that progress is not about doing everything perfectly, but about staying open to change and learning with every step.
